Dr. Sachedina’s commitment to philanthropy, has seen voluntary services to Aga Khan and Ismāʿīlī Institutions. Shafik Sachedina is Head of of the Ismāʿīlī Institution, where he’s responsible for coordinating the activities and programs of the Ismāʿīlī community. Dr Sachedina also interfaces the Aga Khan Development Network programmes with Ismāʿīlī institutions in Central Asia. Additionally, he serves as the President of the Ismāʿīlī Council for the U.K., a member of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) Committee, member of the Ismaili Leaders’ International Forum and Chairman of FOCUS Humanitarian Assistance Committee. Dr. Sachedina has sought voluntary undertakings towards the Ismāʿīlī community through various positions held by him.
The Ismāīlī community is a branch of the Shia sect that seeks spiritual guidance from their line of Imamat, which they believe is divinely appointed. In recent times, ethnically Pakistani Ismāʿīlīs have largely constituted the total population of Ismāʿīlīs worldwide.
Dr. Sachedina is also an entrepreneur, who has made contributions to various businesses that cater to individuals with traumatic brain injuries. He is also a professor at a university in Europe, where he oversees other professors as well.
Dr. Shafik Sachedina graduated from Guy’s Hospital Medical, and Dental School at the University of London in 1975. He was born in Dar-es-Salaam Tanzania in 1950. After moving to England, he was naturalized as a British citizen, and from that point on he has sought productivity in his life. He currently volunteers at various educational institutes to empower students. His volunteer services have earned him prestigious awards. With so much to his name, Dr. Shafik’s life achievements fairly extend beyond achievements of an ordinary person.
